  Local Youth Councils
Each of California's 50 Local Workforce Investment Areas (LWIAs) has a local youth council to address the needs of youth ages 14 to 21. Local youth councils play a central role in their communities, engaging elected officials, business leaders, community based organizations, foundations, and local educational agencies. Youth councils also directly engage young people themselves, giving them a voice in the activities that so directly affect their future. To learn what your local youth council is doing, use this map to contact your LWIA and ask about their youth activities.

For recent examples of youth services in California's LWIAs, see

All Youth - One System: 50 Youth Stories (pdf file - open window) (Summer 2003).
