Welcome to the Web site of the California Workforce Investment Board. Established by Executive Order in response to the mandate of the federal Workforce Investment Act (WIA) of 1998, the Board assists the Governor in setting and guiding policy in the area of workforce development.
The California Workforce Investment Board has established four Special Committees to carry out the vision detailed in the new Two Year Strategic State Plan. |

Green California Community College Summit
Community colleges are increasingly a focal point for statewide efforts to create a green economy and workforce in California. The energy and interest surrounding the emerging green economy provides community colleges with a unique opportunity to increase their perceived and actual value to the communities where they exist.
This two-day event will take place on October 8th and 9th, 2008 at the Pasadena Convention Center.

Transformation Roundtables
The California Workforce Investment Board will be convening a series of Transformation Roundtables throughout the state. The purpose of the roundtables is to engage in a dialogue with regional leaders concerning factors that will influence California's economic competitiveness in the 21st century's global economy and identify critical elements of California's Comprehensive Workforce System.
